I haven't worked in about 4 years now. I've been job hunting since January but haven't had much luck until now. Yesterday I got a call from McDonalds saying I could have an interview Saturday, but this morning I got a call from the local Shoprite saying to come in for an interview on Monday. I'm skipping the McDonalds one as I hear nothing but terrible things from people who worked there.
Yea it's no big deal it's just a supermarket job and probably not a career opportunity but for someone who hasn't even gotten a call about a job I applied to in about 2 years now, this is a big deal to me.
Have some Hachiroku to celebrate with me!

Yahoo! Good luck, you got this.

Good luck either way, though I would recommend going to both interviews, never know which one you'll get an offer from, an interview isn't a guarantee!

Job hunting sucks. Its the worst. I hate it. I really really hate it. Why has it taken you so long if you dont mind me asking? High school student? Somehow nuked your resume by getting fired in a hilarious way and its now on your permanent record?

Go to the McDonalds interview if not for the experience of having a real world interview. It will likely help with the interview at Shoprite, getting interviews is pretty tough, be prepared.

Good point. I don't want to make the shoprite interview sound trivial but this shoprite hires just about anyone with a pulse (it's where 1/2 the high school students go when they're looking for their first job). The lady on the phone was very nice and seemed surprised when I was polite talking to her, so I guess I'm off to a good start.

I...I don't know. I'm a junior in college, with an associates degree but no one wants to hire me. Career type jobs (jobs in my field of study) say I don't have enough experience and jobs like McDonalds generally don't seem to want college kids who've almost graduated I guess.

Hmmm didn't think of it like that. I spose going to McDonalds wouldn't hurt.

Bummer. If I could give advice. Advice I might not take myself if I was given it. Because mcdonalds. I would go to the macdonalds interview and try to land the job and then try to get another job. It might be easier to get another one while employed.

It's always easier to choose between 2 job offers then no job offers if the grocery one doesn't pan out!

Interview experience is key. (This is coming from an HR guy). When I knew I was looking to transfer for a promotion, I had 3 interviews. I got 2 offers. I'll let you guess which interview didn't go well. (Hint: The first one.) I hadn't interviewed for a job in 5-6 years, and I know I'm not a good interviewee. It's worth the practice. Promise.

Don't pass on either, keep your options open.
